The Path of Life

Intro
It's been a difficult week with insurance issues and symptoms from my Crohn's disease. So, I thought a short poem that I wrote pretty early in life would be fitting for this situation. I get asked a lot about how I continue to maintain a positive attitude for the majority of my days. To be honest, the poem that is listed below is a philosophy I live by.
My Philosophy
Those people who have known me for a long time know that going to church is not something I care to do. This is because I've had many experiences of individuals placing their hands on my head hoping to pray away my disability when my disability isn't something I view as a bad thing.. As difficult as things are at times, I believe that everything that has happened to me happens for a reason. So far, I'm of the firm belief that the reason behind the life that I live is so that I can educate others through my own experiences and opinions and give them opportunities to see that living life with a disability or multiple disabilities, in my case is not a death sentence. Despite my experiences in church, I still believe that someone up in the sky is watching over us and that our loved ones who are no longer with us are also watching.
I hope to show people with disabilities and their loved ones that, despite what society says, it's okay for us to show when we're having a bad day. We don't need to be 100% stoic all the time, despite what the rest of the population says.
Poem
We never know what that big man in the sky has in store. Throughout our journey we sometimes question the reasons for which we are put on earth. Very few of our questions receive an answer so many people are always asking why. Even though life isn’t a bed of roses it’s still too short to ask why things happen. Traveling the path of life is like playing a game, you win some you lose some, and sometimes the losses outweigh the wins: happiness, sadness, tragedy or good fortune, no matter what we faced. Though we have a lot of unanswered questions as to why things work out the way they do, everything happens for a reason. Some of us may not agree with that, but honestly what else can explain the difficult decisions we make. There is no secret to the path of life.
